The Reasons lead to mechanical seal leakage

As we know the purpose for mechanical seal is to prevent leakage,Failure of the mechanical shaft seal is the most common cause of pump downtime.Here are 6 of the most common reasons mechanical seals can fail. 

1.The pump run in the dry condition 

The main reason lead to damaging to  a mechanical seal is allowing the pump to run dry.Often seal face leakage rates will depend on pump/motor operating conditions. If operating vibration levels are high, theshaft suffers from excessive radial or axial movement or is misaligned excessively, leakage rates tend to be higher. 

2.Wrong combination material choose

Due to Lack of knowledge and information in mechanical seal,it will lead to mechani­cal seal installation errors. poor material choice for sepcial conditon, which making mechanical seal fail
